Sheila is a registered nurse who is affiliated with Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, which provides high-quality, affordable outpatient primary healthcare and support services to adults and children regardless of their ability to pay or health insurance status. Founded in 1967, the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone has grown to become one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Center networks in the nation.
Additionally, Sheila is also affiliated with Sharp HealthCare – San Diego’s health care leader with affiliated medical groups, urgent care centers, and health plans. Sheila also practices with Scripps Health – a health system in San Diego where top doctors practice at hospitals, outpatient clinics, walk-in clinics, urgent care and emergency rooms.
In 1988, she earned her nursing degree from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady, New York. She then went on to gain certification in Basic Life Support and is a certified hospice and palliative nurse (CHPN). To stay up to date in her field she is a professional member of the American Nurses Association.
A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
