Known for her commitment to communication, safety, and trust, Shelia specializes in both pediatric and adult care, trauma nursing, preoperative assistance, and pre-anesthesia.
Shelia began her nursing journey in 1992, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Degree from Pulaski Technical College. She then furthered her education by obtaining an Associate of Science in Registered Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1997. Throughout her extensive career, Shelia has remained an active member of the American Nurses Association, a professional organization dedicated to advancing and protecting the nursing profession.
“I have always believed that my patients are family,” Shelia shares. Her deep love and dedication to patient care stem from a lifelong calling to help others, which began with caring for her mother during her illness. As a single mother, Shelia persevered through challenges to further her education, motivated by the unwavering support of her daughter, who was her biggest cheerleader.
Tragedy struck when Shelia’s daughter passed away during her niece’s battle with cancer. The loss was profound, yet it fueled Shelia’s resolve to continue her nursing career, honoring her daughter’s memory by helping care for her children and embracing the spirit of compassion that she instilled in her. “I believe my daughter is always watching over me, encouraging me to keep caring for others,” Shelia reflects. She also finds comfort in knowing that her niece is now cancer-free, living a happy and healthy life.
