After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2005 and 2009, respectively. Finally, he completed an additional fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant at the same educational venue in 2010.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in cardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Maintaining fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Fellow of the Heart Failure Society of America (FHFSA), and Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE).
Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Kumar is an active member of the American Society of Transplantation, and the American Heart Association.
