Alayne graduated her nursing training and obtained her hospital based registration at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in 1979. In 1993, she earned her bachelor degree of nursing at the University of New England, NSW, Australia, followed by her graduate diploma in nursing education in 1995. In 2000, she acquired her master degree of nursing (MN) at Queensland University of Technology, followed by her master degree of health science with a focus on education at the University of Sydney in 2002, and her certificate IV in Training and Assessment at Rose Training Institute in Brisbane in 2011.
She is a Registered Nurse with forty years of extensive experience in her field and a vast expertise in cancer nursing and teaching. Over the years, she rotated through various areas, including maternity, before settling into cancer nursing. Alayne worked for 28 years as a cancer nurse, as a resource nurse, acting charge nurse, and clinical nurse, through inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care, and, generally, with patients receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy.
Alayne is currently serving patients as a Clinical Facilitator at Griffith University in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Alayne was Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certified. She is also a member of the Royal College of Nurses and the Australian Nurse Teacher Society.
