The field of Social Work aims to serve individuals, groups and communities in need in an effort to create social change. Social work applies social sciences such as sociology, psychology, political science, public health, community development, law, and economics to engage with client systems, conduct assessments, and develop interventions to solve social issues through an individual, group, and societal lens. Social work practice is often divided into three categories which involves micro work, working directly with individuals; mezzo-work, which involves working with families and groups, and macro work; which involves working with communities, states and countries. Mona attributes her professional success to her love for seeing her community thrive through serving underrepresented populations and advocating for the betterment of society. When she’s not working, Mona enjoys focusing on her fitness through running and the art of Yoga. She is currently studying to certify in yoga instruction to better assist her clients and community.
