He is the Program Director of the dermatology residency training program, as well as the Mohs and dermatopathology fellowships. The training programs are affiliated with Larkin Community Hospital in conjunction with Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in 1977, Dr. Skopit went on to further his training. He performed his residency in dermatology at Nova Southeastern University Affiliated Hospitals in 1981.
Thereafter, he attained board certification in dermatology through the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the skin.
Throughout his fruitful career, Dr. Skopit has authored numerous articles for prominent dermatology journals and has co-authored a chapter on dermatologic diagnosis in a major textbook. He is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology (FAOCD – past President), a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), a member of the American Osteopathic Association, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
