Dr. McClurg is a fellowship-trained rhinologist who specializes in the advanced treatment of sinus and nasal problems. He has undergone rigorous training at some of the most prestigious facilities in the world to provide cutting-edge therapies for patients with all sinus and nasal complaints, even those that have failed surgery and other treatments in the past.

Currently a part of the team of professionals at Ascentist Healthcare, he sees patients at the office in Merriam, Kansas. 

His specialities include revision and primary endoscopic sinus, surgery, nasal airway obstruction surgery (septoplasty, turbinate reduction, nasal valve collapse), repair of CSF spinal fluid leaks and encephaloceles, chronic sinus disease, allergic sinusitis, as well as endoscopic skull base and pituitary surgery. He has treated and managed a diverse range of medical dysfunctions and is committed to providing the best comprehensive medical care available.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. McClurg earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University. He then attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine, earning his medical degree. 

Furthering his training, he performed his residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He also completed his fellowship in rhinology, allergy and endoscopic skull base surgery at UNC Medical Center.

Committed to providing outstanding care and expertise, the doctor is board-certified in otolaryngology by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. The Board serves the public by ensuring that diplomates meet the standards of training, knowledge, and professionalism through initial and continuing certification.

Among his many titles, Dr. McClurg is a Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society (FARS), certified as an Epic Physician Builder, and is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Physician Champion for Epic at St. Luke’s Health System.

Throughout his line of work, he has served as Co-Director of the Kansas City Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Surgical Fellowship Program (2015-2018), and as Director of The Saint Luke’s Sinus Center (2014-2018).

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Otolaryngologists, also known as ear, nose, and throat doctors, specialize in disorders of the head and neck, ranging from hearing loss to cancer.
