Dr. Sathi is board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery, thereby serving the cause of public health.
Dr. Sathi is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurosurgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the New York State Neurosurgical Society, and the Suffolk County Medical Society.
Since 2000, Dr. Sathi has been the Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and the Medical Director of the Neurosciences Center at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital. He is also the Co-director of the Brain and Spine Tumor Center at John T. Mather Hospital.
Dr. Sathi served as Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Charles Hospital from 2000 to 2016. Additionally, he is a past President of the Medical Staff at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Sathi obtained his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in neuroscience with high distinction in research from the University of Rochester in 1985. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1989. He served as general surgery intern and neurosurgery resident at the Harvard Medical School program, The Children’s Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He also supervised the cerebrovascular research laboratory involved in neuroprotection. After finishing his residency, Dr. Sathi entered a skull base and cerebrovascular surgery fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. John Tew Jr.
Dr. Sathi has published numerous original papers in journals such as Neurosurgery, Surgical Neurology, and the Journal of Neurosurgery. He has also authored several textbook chapters on the management of brain disorders. Furthermore, he has made numerous national presentations on neurological issues at various conferences.
Dr. Sathi continues to remain active in the education of medical students, nurses, and physician assistant students. He has received numerous honors for his research activities over the years.
