Susan is a registered nurse whose areas of expertise include disease management, nursing education, case management, and preventative care. She serves as a Unit Manager at ProMedica in Richmond, Virginia.

Throughout her academic career, Susan graduated with her Associate of Applied Science degree from Cayuga Community College in 1993. Many years later, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Western Governors University in 2016.

Susan has more than 30 years’ experience working in senior nursing facilities, hospitals, home health and primary care environments. She is able to support patients at varied levels, including cephalocaudal assessment, counseling, education, phlebotomy, documentation with care planning for diagnosis, and administration of treatment procedures. She is also proficient in managing heavy daily patient volume, including telephone triage, case management, appointment scheduling, and patient referral. 

In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains an active member of the American Nurses Association and the American Case Management Association.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

Among her many accomplishments in the field, Susan earned the Nurse of the Year Award from Shands UF in 2006 and 2011.
