Susan is a dedicated, board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than 25 years of healthcare experience. Since December of 2022, she has been working at Scope Medical Group in Michigan.
With a demonstrated history of excellence, passion, and commitment in several areas of the healthcare industry, her areas of expertise include gastroenterology, emergency, ICU, pediatrics, wound care, women’s health, and geriatrics.
Academically, Susan graduated with her Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Ferris State University in 1993. Years later, in 2010, she earned her Bachelor of Applied Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.
Continuing her education, she graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2014, at the top of her class with a focus on primary care.
Before joining Scope Medical Group, Susan served as a nurse practitioner and Practice Manager of Digestive Health Center of Michigan (May 2015 – December 2022), seeing patients at both the Chesterfield office and Henry Ford Hospital in Macomb. She also served as a lecturing professor for the University of Michigan-Flint (September 2011 – September 2021).
An active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Susan has extensive clinical/pharmaceutical research experience as a sub-investigator on more than 70 gastroenterology, hepatology & dermatology studies.
A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) holds certification and provides continuing and comprehensive healthcare for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and body systems. FNPs maintain patient records, perform physical exams, order or perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, as well as treat acute and chronic illnesses, conditions, and injuries that fall under primary care.
With a passion for the field of nursing, Susan attributes her success to her love for what she does. She is a published author and a board-certified expert in transcultural healthcare.
Happily married, Susan and her husband have two children. She enjoys biking, reading historical fiction, cooking, camping, and is an accomplished musician.
