Being a practicing neurologist, Dr. Mednick specializes in diagnosing, treating and managing disorders, diseases, and injuries of the nervous system. She is affiliated with Catholic Health Services of Long Island (CHSLI), more specifically St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center (Smithtown, New York) and Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center (West Islip, New York).

Dr. Mednick has over twenty years of combined clinical experience in different healthcare arenas. She feels this has enhanced her ability to provide excellent care to her patients.

Dr. Mednick obtained her first undergraduate degree in nursing and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology. She then went on to study medicine at Ross University School of Medicine. Following that, she completed her internship in internal medicine at New York Medical College, her residency in neurology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University.

In 2000, prior to completing her medical degree, Dr. Mednick was a registered nurse for more than five years. She worked in a variety of areas at different hospitals, including medical/surgical nursing, telemetry, bariatrics, orthopedics, oncology, and emergency. 

The doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Dr, Mednick partnered with the Long Island Jewish Hospital at New Hyde Park’s Division of Nuclear Medicine to research parathyroid imaging accuracy. She presented research at the American Academy of Neurology about the association of ferritin with Parkinsonian disorders. She has also been published in the Journal of Clinical Neuromuscular Disease. 

In her personal life, Dr. Mednick is a mother of two who loves traveling, reading, writing, and listening to music.
