He has also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the New York University College of Dentistry, and as a Geriatric Dentistry Expert for the U.S. Government Department of Health and Human Services, working to accommodate President Clinton with Health Care Reform in 1994.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Grant earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and Chemistry from Wagner College in Staten Island in 1979. Wanting to pursue a career in dentistry, he went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 1988. That same year, he also obtained a certificate in gerontology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and a year later, he completed his General Practice Residency at the Perry Point VA Medical Center.
Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, the American Society of Geriatric Dentistry, the American Society of Hospital Dentistry, the American College of Dentistry (Fellow), the American Society of Geriatric Dentistry (Fellow), and the International College of Dentistry (Fellow). He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry (DABSCD).
Recognized as an expert in his field, Dr. Grant has written many grants and has received funds from many organizations and institutions for Advanced Dental Education Programs. He has lectured extensively for years, often serving as the keynote speaker at Advanced Dental Education hospitals and dental conventions across the United States and the world (most notably at the University of Hong Kong).

(1998), Hospital and Community Service Award by Brookdale University Hospital (1998), Citation for Community Service by the New York State Governor, George Pataki (1997), Newcomer Businessman of the Year by Hempstead Chamber of Commerce (1997), North East Regional Representative for Geriatric Care by the American Society of Geriatric Dentistry (1996), Martin Luther King Community Service Award by Faith Baptist Church (1995), Citation from Community Service by Nassau County Executive (1994), Community Service Award by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club (1994), and Research of Minority Aging Award by the National Institute of Health Summer Institute (1993).
