Thereafter, he became board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The primary mission of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery, thereby serving the cause of public health.

In order to stay up to date in his field, the doctor remains a member of the New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the North Carolina Medical Society.
