Dr. Speert is a skilled physiatrist with special interests and skills in offering a multimodal approach to pain management and sports and spine injuries using evidenced-based treatments. Before joining OrthoNY, he engaged in a one-year internship in general medicine at Christ Hospital. He then spent three years in residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School / Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. He further specialized in interventional spine and sports medicine after completing a fellowship at OSS Health in York, Pennsylvania. 

During his time at OSS Health, Dr. Speert was fellowship trained in cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral epidurals and neurotomies; sacroiliac joint injections; discograms; kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty; sympathetic ganglion blocks; spinal cord stimulator trials; percutaneous implantations; intercostal nerve blocks; ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve, tendon and joint injections; percutaneous tenotomies; and use of platelet rich plasma.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AOBPMR). The AOBPMR is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the treatment of patients with physical impairments or disabilities.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Speert is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Physiatrists, the American Osteopathic Association, the North American Neuromodulation Society, and the Society of Interventional Spine.
