The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) is proud to announce that Dr. Roberto C. Aguirre, has been serving as the SCRS LATAM Ambassador and Ecuador Country Lead since July 2024. In this pivotal role, he brings his extensive expertise in clinical research to offer strategic guidance and expert advice on initiatives and best practices in the Latin American region.
Dr. Aguirre’s contributions to the field of clinical research extend beyond his ambassadorship. Since October 2023, he has been an integral member of the SCRS Education Committee, leveraging his knowledge in diabetes and clinical research to elevate educational standards and training in the region. Furthermore, as of January 2024, he has joined the Global Advisory Board for the Global Clinical Site Alliance (GCSA), where he collaborates with international leaders to advance clinical research quality and standards.
In addition to these roles, Dr. Aguirre holds several prestigious positions including a member of the Leadership Council on the CNS Summit, and certifications as a Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) through the Society of Clinical Research Associates.
Dr. Aguirre’s academic credentials are impressive; he earned his Medical Degree from Universidad Catolica Santiago de Guayaquil in 2001 and furthered his research education at the University of Miami in Florida. He achieved his CPI certification in 2013, solidifying his commitment to excellence in clinical research.
With a career dedicated to advancing clinical research, Dr. Aguirre is also one of the Founders and Vice President of AGA Clinical Trials, an international research organization established in 2007 that conducts Phase I through IV research across multiple medical specialties. Most recently, he served as the Chief Medical Officer at hyperCORE International from 2019 to 2023, ensuring clinical operations adhered to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Over the years, Dr. Aguirre has participated in over 220 research trials involving pediatric and adult populations, showcasing his commitment to advancing medical knowledge. His volunteer work in hospitals throughout Ecuador further underscores his dedication to improving healthcare within his community.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Aguirre fosters effective communication and collaboration across diverse teams and regions, making him a valuable asset in the global clinical research landscape.
