Tremane M. Bartley, DMD, an Orthodontist with Bartley Family Orthodontics

Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Tremane M. Bartley, who serves patients throughout the State of Connecticut.

After six years in Bridgeport, Dr. Tremane Bartley has expanded Bartley Family Orthodontics to Stamford where he continues to use cutting-edge technology to change the lives of young adolescents. Being a Stamford resident for over 12 years, Dr. Bartley was elated to combine his passion and community-oriented drive to  serve his community in a new way alongside his current involvement with the city.

Jamaican-born Dr. Bartley traveled to Connecticut to attend college at the University of Connecticut for the first time. Although he arrived with only one suitcase, he laid down roots in Stamford and has fully immersed himself in work and local life. Dr. Bartley is an active member of the community action mentorship organization 100 Black Men of Stamford and serves as a citizen advisor on the board at the Ferguson Library when he’s not working or volunteering, typically he is  at Westhill High School on the soccer field playing with friends.

Dr. Bartley is proud of his ability to provide mentorship to others, especially his patients in their formative years.

“Adolescents, I think, are at a very impressionable age where you can be a force for good and a positive force in their lives,” he said. “I want them to at least, even if it’s just for a 20-minute appointment, have a little ray of sunshine because I know that it’s tough out there for kids.”

Dr. Bartley’s practice has established a reputation in Bridgeport, now known for its digital workflow and high-tech scanning machine. The machine has removed the need for imprint molds, which is likely a negative memory for many who have had braces in the past. Dr. Bartley cares for every patient as if they are a part of his family, and in a way, they are.

Bartley Family Orthodontics regularly uses an on-site 3-D printer that helps create retainers efficiently. The practice also offers aligners for patients not interested in braces.

“Our overall goal is to make every patient feel better about themselves. That’s going to give them improved self-confidence, which can translate to reaching for more opportunities, going for that job promotion, applying for that scholarship, joining the debate club,” Dr. Bartley said.

Confidence is at the core of the practice’s mission, and in his orthodontic experience, Dr. Bartley says that his patients respond to a change in their smile in a way that strengthens the person they become. A great smile is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to being comfortable in your skin, and many times this creates an increased desire to care for one’s appearance.

“They start getting better haircuts at the end,” Dr. Bartley joked.

Dr. Bartley believes that learning is a lifetime commitment and dedicates hundreds of hours throughout every year to continue his education in orthodontics and field advancements. He is passionate about improvements related to the technology behind braces and structural changes to improve our healthcare delivery systems. Aside from his involvement in Stamford, Dr. Bartley is a board member with the Bridgeport Dental Association, an organization he’s been a part of for five years.
