Renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ouzounian specializes in treating disorders of the foot and ankle. Since February of 1990, he has been seeing patients at his private practice in Tarzana, California.

In his current capacity, he serves as Co-Director of Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Service at the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, and as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He also holds staff privileges at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center and West Hills Hospital and Medical Center. 

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1981. He then went on to serve his internship, residency, and fellowship within the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. This was followed by a foot & ankle fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York.

Dedicated to his profession, Dr. Ouzounian is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Forensic Examiners, the American Medical Association, the Association of Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the California Medical Association, the California Orthopedic Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the North American Foot and Ankle Association (Founding Member), the Western Orthopedic Association, and the Orthopedic Foot Club.

Performing to a level of excellence, Dr. Ouzounian is on the Coding Coverage and Reimbursement Committee of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (since June of 2004), an American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society Alternate Advisor through the American Medical Association (since 2012), and an American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Representative through the American Medical Association (since September of 2007). 

Furthermore, he is the President and Secretary of the Los Angeles Orthopedic Foot Conference, a Medical Board Expert Reviewer for the Medical Board of California, an Invited Article Editor for Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and an Associate Editor at Foot and Ankle International.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

In honor of his clinical expertise, Dr. Ouzounian has been published in Southern California Super Doctors (2010 – 2020) and has received the Achievement Award by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (2015 – 2019). Among his numerous publications and published textbook chapters, he has lectured extensively at national orthopedic medical meetings.
