Get to know Urologist Dr. Vance Joshaun Moss, who serves patients in Howell Township, New Jersey.

As a board-certified urologist, Dr. Moss specializes in advanced minimally invasive surgery to treat prostate cancer and kidney stones. He is serving patients at Mid-Atlantic Multi Specialty Surgical Group, LLC in Howell Township, New Jersey. He and his identical twin brother, Vincent L. Moss, MD, created Mid-Atlantic Specialty Surgical Group in 2006 to bring convenient access to state-of-the-art thoracic and urologic surgery to the region.

Both majors in the U.S. Army Reserves Medical Corps, the brothers are skilled in a variety of specialized techniques, including procedures that range from renal transplant, to tracheal surgery. More importantly, their dedication to providing top notch, large center-style quality of care is at the top of their agenda. As for residents of western Monmouth and Ocean counties who require kidney transplants, Dr. Moss hopes to introduce a program to offer crucial postoperative care, close to home. He is also one of the pioneers into the formation of the Temple-Crozer Transplant Program.

In regards to his educational background, he earned his Medical Degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1998. This was followed by residencies in general surgery and urology at New York Medical College and fellowship training in renal transplantation at SUNY at Stony Brook. 

Thereafter, Dr. Moss became board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as by working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care. 

Additionally, he attained Fellowship status with the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Urologic Association, and the American College of Surgeons.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
