Vanessa Rojas, RN, BSN, a Registered Nurse with Willow Springs Center

Get to know Registered Nurse, Vanessa Rojas, who serves patients in Reno, Nevada.

An experienced registered nurse in various fields, Vanessa’s areas of specialization include psychiatry nursing, home health nursing, medication administration, and risk management. She is the Director of Risk Management at Willow Springs Center, a residential psychiatric hospital for children located in Reno, Nevada.

As such, she is responsible for overseeing the facility risk program and performance improvement program under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, and assisting in meeting the requirements of all regulatory agencies as well as state and federal agencies. In addition, she mitigates and responds to potential lawsuits.

“I owe all of my successes to my family who has supported me throughout my journey. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today. My parents especially have turned their lives upside down to make sure I had everything I needed to go to college as a first-generation student and continued to support me as I continue my education. My husband has been extremely supportive and understanding with my busy schedule of maintaining a full-time job and working on two graduate level degrees. He makes sure I have everything I need to be able to succeed” stated Vanessa. 

Upon graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Dixie State University in 2019, she went on to earn her Master of Business Administration degree from Western Governors University in 2020. Currently, she is studying at Regis College, where she is expected with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2022. 

Among her professional affiliations, she is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Technical Honor Society, and the American Psychiatric Association.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
