An exceptional individual, Victor has dedicated his career to advancing brain health equity, mentorship, and diversifying STEM fields. As a Clark Scholar at the Penn Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and a Black Men’s Brain Health Scholar, he has demonstrated his commitment to understanding and finding solutions for Alzheimer’s Disease. He has also served as an MIT linQ Catalyst Healthcare Innovation Fellow, leveraging his expertise to drive innovation in healthcare.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology (PNP) at Washington University in St. Louis. During his time there, he developed a passion for education outreach as a mentor for St. Paul Saturdays, an organization focused on empowering young African American males through manhood, leadership, and personal development.

Victor’s dedication to education outreach is evident through his role as an Instructor for the MIT Office of Engineering Outreach Programs. By combining his passion for advancing brain health equity and his love for mentorship, he plays a crucial role in diversifying STEM fields and inspiring the next generation of scientists and researchers.

Throughout his career, he has been involved in groundbreaking research. As a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, he investigated Alzheimer’s Disease, deepening our understanding of this complex condition. Additionally, as a Penn Memory Center Minority Scholar in Aging Research, he explored the potential of transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of brain disorders.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Recognized globally for his expertise and insights, Victor was invited to contribute to the report “Trust or Consequences 2040: Will innovations in health and medicine deliver?” as a Trust Colab Participant, joining over 100 experts in shaping the future of healthcare and medicine. He is the proud recipient of the Gap Summit 2022 “Leader of Tomorrow” Award, the AMSA 2022 Racial Justice in Medicine Award, the AAIC Neuroscience Next ‘One to Watch’ Award in 2021, and the Rainwater Tau Leadership Fellows Award in 2021, among many others.

Looking ahead, he envisions a future as a physician-scientist-advocate specializing in academic neurology. His goal is to employ novel approaches to treat brain diseases, address health disparities, and promote diversity in STEM fields.
