Get to know Occupational Medicine Dr. Virginia A. Loewenstine, who serves patients in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Loewenstine is the founder of Tristate Preventive Health Consultants, LLC (TPHC). In addition to being President and Medical Director of TPHC, she personally serves as National Medical Director for Givaudan Flavors and Fragrances Corporation.

Loewenstine earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, previously known as the Medical College of Ohio, and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

She has over twenty-five years of experience in Occupational and Preventive Medicine and is a long standing member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American Academy of Family Practice, the International Society of Travel Medicine, and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.

In addition, Loewenstine has received many honors throughout her career including being named to America’s Top Physicians by the Consumer Research Council of America and the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals and was recently inducted into the Leading Physicians of the World.

In 1999, former First Lady, Barbara Bush, presented Loewenstine with the Regional Healthcare Provider “Spirit of Women” Award as the area’s first recipient. She is also one of the select few healthcare providers in the world to hold a Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Health.

As an educator, Loewenstine presents the latest medical research and associated training to Emergency Response Teams and First Responders, along with providing skilled mentoring to numerous medical residents, medical students, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

Dr. Loewenstine evaluates the interaction between work and health. Occupational medicine physicians have general knowledge of worksite operations and are familiar with the toxic properties of materials used by employees and the potential hazards and stressors of work processes; in addition to being qualified to determine an employee’s physical and emotional fitness for work; diagnosing and treating occupational diseases; handling work related injuries; and having an understanding of rehabilitation methods, health education techniques, sanitation, and workers compensation laws.
