After earning his medical degree, Dr. Croley completed specialty and subspecialty training in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident and subsequently completed a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
An active member in the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Croley has participated in numerous meetings with legislators in Washington, D.C. to discuss issues important to the specialty of anesthesiology as well as medical education. While completing his fellowship, he worked in a part-time capacity as an attending anesthesiologist and instructor at Rush University Medical Center.
Thereafter, he was appointed as the Associate Director of Residency Education for the Rush Department of Anesthesiology. He also served as Co-Medical Director of the Rush University Simulation Laboratory (RUSL) where he was accountable for overall simulation management through University Affairs and was appointed to the Department of Anesthesiology as Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).
Thriving in his field, he is board-certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.
Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Croley has published multiple manuscripts and abstracts related to critical care and medical education.
