Board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Matarese, is currently in practice at High Mountain Orthopedics with locations in Wayne, Englewood, and Paramus, New Jersey. Among his professional experience, Dr. Matarese is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital, an attending surgeon in the Department of Orthopedics at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, an attending surgeon in the Department of Orthopedics at Chilton Memorial Hospital, and an attending surgeon in the Department of Orthopedics at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. He is also affiliated with Wayne Surgical Center.

Dr. Matarese is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the Hackensack Meridian School Of Medicine at Seton Hall University. He is listed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education as the Director of Total Knee in the Orthopedic Department and was awarded the Clinical Instructor Teaching Award by the Orthopedic Residents. 

After his undergraduate education at Columbia University, he earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington in 1983. He then went on to complete his internship in general surgery at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center, followed by his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. He also completed his fellowship in total joint arthroplasty and limb lengthening at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute in New York City, New York. 

In regards to the doctor’s achievements, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the New Jersey Orthopedic Society, the Academy of Medicine New Jersey, the New Jersey Medical Society, and Seak Medical Examiners. 

Furthermore, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Matarese has published several articles in peer-reviewed publications, including Surgical Rounds for Orthopedics, Journal of Arthroplasty, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and NJOS/NYSSOS.
