Born and raised in Anniston, Alabama, Dr. Vandervoort completed his undergraduate studies with honors at The University of Alabama in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. In 2014, he graduated from The University of Alabama School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree.
Upon graduation from dental school in 2014, Dr. Vandervoort was awarded for achievement in dental anesthesiology, endodontics, and implant dentistry.
After dental school, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at The Foundry Dental Center in Bessemer, Alabama. Through the residency program, he received advanced training in IV sedation, oral surgery, implant placement and restoration, prosthodontics, endodontics, as well as restorative and preventive dentistry.
Also, he was a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Leadership Tuscaloosa 2016-2017 class.
Committed to continuing education to remain current with the latest dental methods and advancements in technology, Dr. Vandervoort is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, UAB Dentistry Leadership Council, and the Tuscaloosa Spear Dental Study Club.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Happily married, Dr. Vandervoort and his wife, Nancy, have three daughters – Virginia, Julia, and Elizabeth. He enjoys sports, hunting, traveling, the outdoors, and spending time with family.
