Dr. Manimtim is a board-certified neonatologist who serves as Director of Neonatal Outpatient Services and Medical Director of the Infant Tracheostomy and Home Ventilator Program at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Manimtim earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 1985. He then went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center in 1997, followed by his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Manimtim is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition to English, Dr. Manimtim speaks Filipino and Spanish.
Dr. Manimtim is board-certified in both pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. It is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn. It is a hospital-based specialty, and is usually practiced in neonatal intensive care units. Neonatologists diagnose and treat newborns infants with breathing disorders, infections, birth defects or other conditions. They are trained to manage the medical care necessary for premature infants or critically ill newborns, especially coordinating any surgical procedures.
