Wyshika L. Gibson, FNP-C, a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with Wellstar Kennestone Hospital

Get to know Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Wyshika L. Gibson, who helps deliver quality care to patients in Marietta, Georgia. 

Wyshika is a certified family nurse practitioner whose nursing background and experience is in medical surgical nursing, telemetry, and mental health. Since July of 2014, she has been working at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, she is primarily responsible for ensuring that physician documentation reflects the clinical details of a patient’s condition, diagnosis. and treatment by discharge. She also facilitates improvements to clinical documentation through concurrent medical chart review and physician education, promotes capture of clinical severity to support the level of service rendered, as well as implements special projects to improve system processes.

A native of Louisiana, Wyshika graduated with her Associate of Science in Nursing degree from West Central Technical College in 2007, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of West Georgia in 2014. Years later, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree (Family Nurse Practitioner Program) at Chamberlain University in 2020.

Dedicated to excellence, she is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. It is an American organization formed in 2013 by a merger between the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Nurse Practitioners to provide nurse practitioners with a unified way to network and advocate their issues.

A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) holds certification and provides continuing and comprehensive healthcare for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and body systems. FNPs maintain patient records, perform physical exams, order or perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, as well as treat acute and chronic illnesses, conditions, and injuries that fall under primary care.
