Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Yekaterina Karpitskaya, who serves patients in Mississippi.
A double board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Karpitskaya joined Bienville Orthopedic Specialists in 2011, and sees patients at the offices in Biloxi and Gautier, Mississippi.

With firsthand knowledge of injury and prevention, some of the more common conditions Dr. Karpitskaya sees and surgeries she performs include hip, knee and shoulder replacements; shoulder, knee and ankle arthroscopic surgeries; ACL and other ligament reconstruction, rotator cuff repairs; tennis and golfer’s elbow; bicep/tricep tendon repair; carpal and cubital tunnel surgery; thumb arthritis; trigger finger; and adult and pediatric fracture repair, among other procedures.
A native of Russia, she came to the United States at the age of 14, graduated as valedictorian in high school and summa cum laude in college and then continued her education at Washington University in St. Louis, where she obtained her medical degree. She went on to complete her residency in orthopedic surgery at UCLA, and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Licensed to practice medicine in Mississippi, Dr. Karpitskaya has admitting privileges at several medical venues, including Ocean Springs Hospital, Singing River Hospital, Merit Health, Singing River Gulfport Hospital, Memorial Surgery Center at Cedar Lake, and Bienville Surgery Center.
As an avid marathoner and triathlete, Dr. Karpitskaya is one of the founding members of the largest triathlon clubs on the coast. A Gold Level Ironman All World Athlete and USAT All American, she has finished fifteen Ironman events.
Additionally, she currently serves as a team doctor for the Biloxi Shuckers and has served as a team doctor for the Mississippi Surge hockey team during their final season (2013-2014) on the coast.
