Since 1986, Advanced Dermatology, PC and the Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery has been offering a wide array of medical, cosmetic, laser and plastic surgery services. The facilities provide personalized, conservative, effective and less painful treatments for a variety of skin conditions
In addition to specializing in all areas of adult and pediatric dermatology, many of the dermatologists have subspecialty training in their area of expertise. They are collectively fellows of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Contact Dermatitis Society, and many other societies and serve as official spokespeople for The American Academy of Dermatology and The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Michelle Abadir, MD, FAAD
Dr. Abadir practices general and cosmetic dermatology, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
After receiving her medical degree from the State University of New York at Downstate, she completed her internship at New York University and fulfilled her residency training in dermatology and dermatologic surgery at Albert Einstein Medical College. During her fellowship in malignant melanoma at New York University, she conducted research in the area of skin cancer, after which she authored and co-authored several important papers on the topic.
Teaching surgery to dermatology residents, Dr. Abadir is a staff member in the Dermatology department of Albert Einstein Medical College.
In addition to being an active member of many medical associations, including the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society of Liposuction Surgery, Dr. Abadir volunteers at different locations to conduct skin cancer screenings and raise public awareness about skin cancer prevention. She has also been featured in New York Best Doctors.
Dr. Cybele Fishman, MD, FAAD
Dr. Fishman is a board-certified dermatologist and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Her approach is to integrate the best of traditional, integrative, and cosmetic dermatology to offer individualized care, and to help patients feel great. In her 18 years of practicing dermatology, she enjoys a personal connection with her patients and solving their dermatological health issues.
Academically, Dr. Fishman graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Romance Languages & Literature and Latin American Studies. After completing her medical degree from NYU Grossman School of Medicine, she completed one year of clinical training in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and three years of dermatology training at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, where she was chief resident.
In addition, she completed advanced fellowship training in Melanoma and Pigmented Lesions at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In 2010, she studied integrative medicine at the Continuum Center for Health and Healing, Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), Dr. Fishman has made several appearances as a skin health and wellness expert online, in print media, and on television, including several appearances on “The Dr. Oz Show,” and the “The Today Show” and educational videos for Women’s Health and Parents.
Dr. Jason Applebaum, MD, FAAD
Dr. Applebaum joined the team at Advanced Dermatology, PC and the Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery in 1999. With extensive training and experience in laser surgery and cosmetic surgery, he specializes in facial rejuvenation and scar treatment.
Regarding his educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his internship at the New York University Medical Center, and his residency at the University of Chicago.
During his post-graduate training in Chicago, Dr. Applebaum conducted extensive research in his field, particularly in the area of melanoma, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), he has presented his findings at multiple conferences of the Chicago Dermatologic Society.
Dr. Lance Barazani, MD, FAAD
A board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Barazani specializes in all areas of medical dermatology for adults and children, the prevention and treatment of skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, and laser surgery.
Pertaining to his educational pursuits, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Brandeis University, and graduated with his medical degree from the New York Medical College. He then went on to complete his residency in dermatology at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center, and a research fellowship at Rockefeller University Hospital.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), he is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Barazani has been the recipient of the 2021 Top Doctor Award by Castle Connolly Magazine.
Dr. Francis X. Di Spaltro, MD
Dr. DiSpaltro joined Advanced Dermatology, PC and the Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery in 2003. He is experienced in many medical and cosmetic dermatology areas and offers his patients a wide range of treatments available in our offices.
In regards to his educational background, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Binghamton University and pursued his medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. He went on to complete a sub-internship and an internship in general surgery at Downstate Medical Center.
Joining the United States Army Medical Corps, Dr. DiSpaltro was a Captain and served as Chief of the clinic at The Kimbrough Army Hospital in Maryland. Upon completing his military duties, he furthered his education through a residency in internal medicine at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center.
He practiced emergency medicine for several years while pursuing research in immunology and clinical trials at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, where he worked with world-renowned dermatologists.
In 1999, Dr. DiSpaltro continued his studies by returning to a residency in dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, where he completed his training.
Dr. Paige Applebaum Farkas, MD, FAAD
Dr. Farkas is a board-certified dermatologist with experience in all areas of medical, cosmetic and laser dermatology. A caring physician with excellent clinical experience and reputation and a keen academic perspective, she provides cutting edge dermatological care with compassion.
The focus of her practice is general and cosmetic dermatology and skin cancer screening examinations utilizing dermatoscopy technology. She treats adults and children of all ages.
Graduating with her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Farkas went on to perform her residency within the Department of Dermatology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
In her professional experience, she founded Comprehensive Dermatology and Laser Center in 1996 and built a busy and successful practice over the following decade. She has also been a staff dermatologist at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey since 1993, and provides outpatient dermatology clinics for the underprivileged in the community.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), she worked as Clinical Instructor at Montefiore Medical Center for many years, supervising medical residents in the Dermatology Department.
Dr. Jerome Felsenstein, MD, FAAD
Well-loved by his patients, Dr. Felsenstein is the Founder of the Ossining office of Advanced Dermatology, PC.
Teaching students, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Dermatology at New York University Grossman School of Medicine.
Among his other roles, he is affiliated with Tisch NYU Hospital Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center.
Academically, Dr. Felsenstein received his medical degree from New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He then completed his internship at Bellevue Hospital and his residency in dermatology at Kings County SUNY Downstate.

Dr. Zoila Flashner, MD, FAAD
Dr. Flashner has extensive experience in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and has been in private practice for seventeen years. She strives to provide personalized patient care and enjoys working with ethnic skin and understands their concerns.
Her primary focus has been on early detection and prevention of skin cancer, and she is a volunteer at skin cancer screenings.
Completing her undergraduate education at Rush University, Dr. Flashner graduated with her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and her residency in dermatology at the SUNY Health Science Center.

Dr. Suzanne Friedler, MD, FAAD
Treating both adult and pediatric patients, Dr. Friedler has served as an injection trainer for Botox Cosmetic and has become adept with the latest innovations in skin fillers.
She offers patients state-of-the-art procedures including Fraxel non-ablative resurfacing, skin tightening, endovenous laser vein treatment and general laser therapy for scars, tattoos, hair removal, rosacea, stretch marks, acne, melasma, brown spots, angiomas, and many other conditions.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Binghamton University, Dr. Friedler completed her medical education at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine, and her residency in dermatology at Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Hirshel Kahn, MD, FAAD
A highly trained dermatologist, Dr. Kahn’s special interests include skin cancer, psoriasis and hair loss. He also has extensive experience in Botox and Dermal Fillers.
After graduating from a six-year medical school, he completed a residency in pathology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He went on to complete a fellowship in dermatopathology and then a second residency in dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), Dr. Kahn is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He is also triple board-certified by the American Board of Pathology and the American Board of Dermatology.
Widely published, he remains on staff as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, where he teaches in the residency training program.
Dr. Harold Mermelstein, MD
Dr. Mermelstein is a board-certified dermatologist and an Associate Clinical Professor within the Dermatology Department of New York University’s Medical Center Skin and Cancer Unit.
A native New Yorker, his education and training span some of the most prestigious institutions in the country. Ranked in the top 12% of his class at New York Medical College, he completed his medical internship at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. He started as a dermatology resident at New York University’s Medical Center Skin and Cancer Unit and rose through the years to finish his fellowship there before starting his own private practice.
On a professional level, Dr. Mermelstein is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the New York State Society of Dermatology, and the Westchester Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Jon Wininger, MD
A board-certified family dermatologist with over two decades of experience, Dr. Wininger has become known for his attentiveness and the individual attention he gives to his patients. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of medical dermatological conditions, including acne, allergies, diabetic issues, wounds, rashes, warts.
In addition, he routinely performs skin cancer screenings, photodynamic therapy, as well as a variety of minor dermatological surgeries, and has expertise in the latest anti-aging techniques.
After earning his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Wininger completed a residency at New York Medical College, where he was appointed Chief Resident.
Alongside his clinical role, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Seton Hall University and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Outside of the office, Dr. Wininger has been involved in the community by serving on the Mayoral Environmental Commission as well as serving the Board of Education.
