When asked why he became an orthopedic trauma surgeon, Dr. Forsh answered: “I became an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon because I enjoy helping people at pivotal moments and am able to intimately touch their lives on a daily basis when they are most in need of critical care. I am able to operate essentially anywhere in the body, which presents a new challenge every day. There’s never a dull moment.”

Dr. Forsh is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at the Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Forsh is affiliated with Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West – two hospitals affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Health System. He has also served as a healthcare provider in Costa Rica, South Africa, and Liberia, West Africa.

Dr. Forsh received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Following graduation, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and was recognized as a finalist for Resident of the Year during his training.  Following residency, he completed his Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship training at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California – known to be one of the premiere Level I trauma centers in the country.

Dr. Forsh is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). Founded in 1934 as a private, voluntary, nonprofit, autonomous organization, the ABOS exists to serve the best interest of the public and the medical profession by establishing educational standards for orthopaedic residents and by evaluating the initial and continuing qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. Their mission is to ensure safe, ethical, and effective practice of orthopaedic surgery.

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics, also spelled orthopaedics, is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. As an orthopedic trauma surgeon, Dr. Forsh manages trauma to bones, joints, ligaments and tendons. He has a special interest in polytrauma, fracture care, nonunions, malunion/deformity, pelvic & acetabular surgery, as well as international trauma orthopaedics.
