Dr. Ralph Wharton is a highly respected and experienced psychiatrist, having been in practice for over three decades. Before attending medical school, Dr. Wharton obtained his degree in Biology from Harvard College, graduating with honors. His career in medicine began when he graduated with his Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After he obtained his degree, driven to further his expertise and knowledge he complete an internship in Medicine at NY Cornell.
From 1958-1961, Dr. Wharton served in the US Army Medical Corp in France and Germany receiving Medical citation. In addition, he served in the past as the President of the Columbia Society of Practitioners and the American College of Psychoanalysts. He was awarded Practitioner of the Year at Columbia. Among his many contributions, Dr. Wharton wrote Landmark Paper on the Use of Lithium Carbonate for Affective Psychosis in 1966 which was later re-published in the Sesquicentennial Issue as among the best paper in 150 years.
Dr. Wharton is certified by the American Psychiatric Association, and he has dedicated his life to delivering compassionate care.
