Get to know Glaucoma Specialist and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist Dr. Jeremy M. Cotliar, who serves patients in New York.

Dr. Cotliar is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States. The certification requires that ophthalmologists complete an accredited ophthalmic residency training program and demonstrate the required level of knowledge, skills, and experience in ophthalmology. 

An ophthalmologist is an eye doctor that specializes in eye surgery and office-based eye-care procedures.

Dr. Jeremy joined his father Dr. Arthur, the founder of Eye Care and Surgery, in 2013, and he became partner in 2018.  Along with the Cotliars, Eye Care and Surgery houses other excellent associate ophthalmologists. Dr. Arthur M. Cotliar founded the eye care practice in 1977. The hard-working eye doctors of Eye Care & Surgery – with 2 offices in Washington Heights, NY adjacent to New York Presbyterian Hospital, and one office in the Bronx right across the street from Yankee Stadium – provide patients with the highest quality of both medical and surgical eye care, as well as a friendly, helpful, and efficient experience. Dr. Jeremy Cotliar helps train the ophthalmology residents at New York- Presbyterian Hospital in the operating room.  He also has surgical privileges at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai Hospital. 

Dr. Jeremy is a fellowship- trained glaucoma surgeon. He specializes in both manual and laser-assisted cataract surgery, refractive surgery, such as LASIK AND PRK, and in premium Intraocular Lens (IOL) technology for cataract surgery (Premium IOLs allow for patients to be spectacle-free after cataract surgery). Furthermore, he is certified in all of the MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries), including the iStent, hydrus microstent, Kahook Dual-blade and the OMNI goniotomy/ canaloplasty, used either alone or with cataract surgery in mild-moderate glaucoma.  He is also certified in the XEN gel stent for advanced glaucoma.

He completed his medical school training at Albany Medical College in 2008. He then completed his 3-year ophthalmology residency at Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2012, followed by a year of training in glaucoma eye surgery at the prestigious University of California at Irvine. He then completed his training with a mini LASIK fellowship with the esteemed Dr. Michael Vrabec out of Appleton Wisconsin. 

In addition to English, Dr. Cotliar is fluent in Spanish.
