Kimberly Arza, RN, a Registered Nurse with Mount Zion Elementary School

Get to know Registered Nurse, Kimberly Arza, who serves patients in Johns Island, South Carolina.

Kimberly is a registered nurse currently affiliated with Mount Zion Elementary School in Johns Island, South Carolina. Kimberly was previously a Level II trauma surgical nurse for 20 years in NY.  She recently moved to Charleston SC with her family and decided to take her career in a different direction.  In order to provide her expertise and experience to all of her patients/ Students with the best care, she is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Regarding her educational background, she earned her nursing degree from Suffolk Community College in 2002. She is also Botox and Reiki certified and continues to pursue her education.

A Registered Nurse (RN), is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

On a more personal note, Kimberly spent approximately 12 years volunteering and applying her  nursing skills on national and international medical missions, affiliated with Blancashouse, and Madaktari  MOI,  (Muhimbili Orthopedic and Neurology Institute). Kimberly was one of the medical volunteers who accompanied News12 Long Island to Haiti  2 weeks after the devastating earthquake in 2010. Kimberly attributes her success to her ability to really relate to the common person, giving back to her community, and serving a purpose.
