Dr. Richard W. Cohen is a vastly experienced psychiatrist who has been in practice for almost 40 years. His long and distinguished career in psychiatry began in 1977 when he graduated from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed his residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was named chief resident, before entering private practice. He also taught at Jefferson medical college where he was an assistant professor in psychiatry, family medicine, and otolaryngology. He edited a textbook at Jefferson on alcoholism and published on agoraphobia with world-famous psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Wolpe.
Dr. Cohen is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Psychiatry and in Child Psychiatry, and he diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions in patients of all ages. Conditions treated by him include Attention Deficit Disorder, bipolar disorder, drug and alcohol dependency, major depressive disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He is also a renowned expert in sports psychiatrist.
Dr. Cohen has written many peer-reviewed medical papers in his field, and he has also lectured across America on subjects including mental toughness and sports psychology. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors where he was a member of Ivy League Championship Teams in tennis and squash. He has won 14 united states national championships in tennis. He was the recent co-lead speaker at the United States professional tennis association’s annual conference. His expertise and dedication as a psychiatrist make Dr. Richard W.
