Luanne is a registered nurse & sexual assault forensic examiner who is affiliated with the Office of Victim Services – Connecticut Judicial Branch, as well as eight hospitals in the region. She also serves as a preceptor, training new preceptees in the hospitals where she oversees their initial cases, ensuring that their practice is consistent and done accordingly to policy.

Prior to her current endeavors, she worked in the operating room as a surgical tech and registered nurse. Back in 2011, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Capital Community College in Hartford, Connecticut.

When asked why she chose a career in nursing, Luanne answered that when she was a sexual assault crisis counselor, she saw the need for more forensic nurses. Nowadays, motivated by family and friends at the start of each day, she deals with a special population of patients who are very grateful for her expertise in this area of practice.

Attributing her success to her passion for helping people and being sensitive to their needs, Luanne has three sisters in the health field who inspired her to become a nurse herself. She also credits her exposure to nurses in the operating room while serving as a surgical tech to her success. She finds her field of practice to be both interesting and rewarding.

Recognized for her outstanding achievements and commitment to the field of nursing, Luanne is the recipient of numerous awards, including Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor/Advocate Counselor – Volunteer of the Month (2004), Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor – Volunteer of the Year (2005), Judith Marie R. Laurie for Dedication and Commitment from nursing school (2011), and Award of Excellence from the Office of Victim Services in Appreciation of Heartfelt Commitment and Dedication (2016). Among her philanthropic endeavours, she has served as a school volunteer (1989-2008), a parent-teacher organization volunteer (1989-2008), the Vice President of the Parent-Teacher Organization (1995 and 1997), and a Girl Scout Leader (1990 – 1995).
