Smile Builders Pediatric Dentistry provides dental care for infants and adolescents in a warm, comfortable, child-friendly environment. Their focus is on preventive care for all patients. They serve infants, children, teens and children with special health care needs. Smile Builders offers nitrous oxide, in-office conscious sedations as well as IV sedations. Parents are welcome to spend their appointment right along with their child. The office is state-of-the art with flat screen TV’s at each chair, video games, and lots of prizes! There are graphics throughout the office of characters that Dr. Lesser helped create, and even appear in an interactive movie in the lobby!
Dr. Robyn B. Lesser is originally from Clearwater, Florida. She completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1995. Furthering her education Dr. Lesser then completed her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry with the University of Florida where she graduated in 2000 with honors in research and was inducted into the Florida Blue Key honor society. Dr. Lesser completed her residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Florida at UFCD in 2002. She remains a part of the University of Florida as President of the Pedo Gators, the pediatric dental alumni association for the University of Florida. Dr. Lesser is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. To stay up to date in her field, Dr. Lesser remains a professional member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the Hillsborough County Dental Association, where she can remain up to date in the newest information regarding the field of dentistry and pediatric dentistry. When Dr. Lesser is not in the office, she volunteers in the schools to help educate children on good oral health, and enjoys spending time with her husband Gene and 2 daughters, Sasha and Mila.
Dr. Donna L. Nichols has been practicing pediatric dentistry for more than 25 years. She joined Smile Builders in 2015. She graduated with her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Florida. She went even further to complete a teaching fellowship in pediatric dentistry at the University of Florida. When not working, Dr. Nichols spends time with her husband Edson, and her 3 children, Nathaneal, Rebekah, and Aaron. She is very active in her church and provides weekly dinners for the youth group. She also enjoys crafting of all kinds, baking, and reading.
Dr. Ashley N. Tate joined Smile Builders in 2018. She completed her undergraduate degree with the University of Central Florida and her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Florida where she also completed her pediatric residency. During her time with the University of Florida, Dr. Tate completed two mission trips to treat underserved areas of the Dominican Republic and Honduras. She also received the 2015 American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Certificate of Merit. To stay up to date in her field, Dr. Tate remains a professional member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, West Coast District Dental Association, and Hillsborough County Dental Association. She recently became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Tate enjoys baking, traveling, and attending concerts and musicals.
