For the past two decades, the mission of Newport Critical Care Physicians has been to deliver excellent, compassionate, patient-centered care that is uniform and evidence-based, utilizing the best technology and processes in a multidisciplinary team approach. Dr. Pureza sits on the Board of Directors for Newport Critical Care Physicians handling recruitment and human resources. He has remained in good standing with the hospital and been a valued member of the medical staff.
Academically, Dr. Pureza earned his Medical Degree from the University of Santo Tomas School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut, followed by fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at LAC+USC Medical Center. During his fellowship, his primary research focus was on sarcoidosis.
Holding dual board certifications in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Critical care medicine encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of clinical problems representing the extremes of human disease.
