With an impressive professional journey that spans thirty years, JoAnn is a registered nurse whose areas of expertise cover nurse education, orthopedic nursing, neurological nursing, pharmacology, and pediatric nursing. She practices at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as well as teaches at Langston University.

Attributing her success to making a difference in people’s lives and giving back to the profession by teaching and helping new nurses, JoAnn graduated with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma. An advocate for continuing education, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Oklahoma City University, and her Master of Science (MS) degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences College of Nursing.

To further advance her efforts, she remains a member of several professional affiliations, including the American Nurses Association and the Oklahoma Nurses Association. She is also an inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

On a more personal note, JoAnn’s hobbies include cross stitching as well as playing the flute, the piccolo, the tin whistle, and the Bodhran (Irish drum).
