Nicol started from humble beginnings in the Florida seafood industry and restaurant business. When she was a teenager, she began her nursing career as a certified nursing assistant. While attending Tallahassee Community College, she also attended Lively Vocational-Technical School, where she graduated from the Practical Nursing program. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 20 years before returning back to school and graduating with her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree from Keiser University in 2009.
Often invited as a guest speaker for numerous healthcare symposiums for her extensive experience and expert knowledge, she is a member of the Florida Association of Directors of Nursing (FADONA). FADONA is the premier organization for the advancement of nursing executives and leaders to position them as key members of the health care leadership team addressing the constantly evolving landscape and need for innovation in the post-acute care continuum.
A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
