Additional benefits for patients include travel medicine consultations, telemedicine visits upon request, an ongoing virtual education series for patients and community, and a strong focus on preventive medicine for long-term health and wellness. After hours, patients are able to reach Dr. Larew directly on his cell phone for immediate guidance and advice, a benefit shown to significantly reduce the need to visit the emergency room or be admitted to the hospital.

Dr. Larew attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors from the University of Iowa in 1978. Four years later, in 1982, Dr. Larew earned his medical degree from Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. He performed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Previously, Dr. Larew practiced at Mercy Towncrest Internal Medicine (2016 – 2019), Towncrest Internal Medicine (1990 – 2016), Arnett Clinic in West Lafayette, Indiana (1989 – 1990), and Harwood Medical Clinic in Milwaukee (1985 – 1989). In 2018 he worked with Specialdocs Consultants to launch Iowa City’s first concierge medicine practice.
