Tinley Park, Illinois – We are proud to highlight the exceptional work and dedication of Shannon Madonia, MSN, FNP-BC, CCK, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in acute care cardiology. Since joining the Midwest Cardiovascular Institute in February 2022, she has made significant strides in patient care, professional development, and leadership within the healthcare community.
Shannon’s nursing journey began with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Rasmussen University in 2017, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Olivet Nazarene University in 2018. She continued her educational excellence by earning a Master’s Degree in Family Practice Nurse/Nursing from the same institution in 2021, where she was also honored as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society.
With a robust nursing background in intensive care and post-operative open-heart surgical care, Shannon honed her skills at various esteemed healthcare institutions. Her career began at Alden Courts of Shorewood, followed by a pivotal role at Riverside Medical Center, where she specialized in telemetry and post-operative care. Her dedication led her to Palos Health as a PACU Registered Nurse and later to Elmhurst Hospital as an Intensive Care Nurse.
Shannon’s commitment to professional growth is evidenced by her successful completion of the Certified Cardiovascular Knowledge Examination through the American College of Cardiology. As an advanced practice nurse at MCI, she actively contributes to various committees, including serving as Chair of the Elmhurst Hospital Mid Level Provider Committee, participating in the Heart Failure Initiation Program, coordinating and performing nursing education for staff nurses, and enhancing quality metrics for myocardial infarction care.
Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Shannon is passionate about nursing education and mentorship. She has precepted new nurses, organized onboarding policies, and actively participated in educational and research committees throughout her career.
During her time in nursing school, Shannon was an influential leader on the student nursing council, in which she held the Presidential role, where she spearheaded fundraising efforts for March of Dimes and volunteered at Cornerstone Services.
